New motherboard bsod vista

Any idea how to solve this? It works. Then this worked a charm. Worked on XP, Vista, and W7 and go me into each. It brought a tear to my eye when it worked. This allowed me to get into my Vista OS enough to download the new drivers needed.

It is Great thing it works excellent only thing bothering that the key board and mouse does not work until a got into safe mode thanks very much. Hi guys. I just have done opposite, based on your article. Your article is talking about moving from Intel into AMD platform. However I ran into that loop problem. SO happy! It will need this one:. This would be the same driver you install from floppy using F6 while installing XP and is a textmode driver, not plug-and-play.

Textmode drivers have to be either installed manually or on install with F6. This driver uses nvraid. Thanks for this help. It is astonishing, and also a credit to you, that this simple technique is only available on your blog. I was under the perhaps misguided impression that the HDC only needed to be downgraded to the old generic Windows driver in order to get the system running again. Then the proper drivers could be re-installed. Would absolutely love your advice on this topic.

Have a look at the following nVidia community page for a guide on what to do. It seems the key to this solution is to throw the drivers in at boot. I had this problem a while back with Intel SATA drivers and the only way it worked was to manually insert the drivers. Thanks for the ongoing discussion. Just to get this really straight in my head …. Ethernet Driver MCP51 v If so, why?

Too late to go back to the old motherboard now and uninstall them! You are a true scholar in your profession. Thank you so much! I bow down to your superior knowledge and may you get all the good Karma you deserve in one lump sum maybe the lottery :. Unfortunately, the in-place upgrade fails to deploy those drivers, even though it uses them to detect the HDD during Setup. Thank you very much. Great post. I have a great deal to thank you for the timesaving fix,.. Because it was so effective with most machines i had to move hard drives, i now have a Hirens Boot CD on a usb drive.

The latest version has a mini-xp boot o. Again thanks a million. Thank you so much for posting this. Exactly what I was looking for. This was after trying five different methods that fail. The above method is also a good way to repair a crashed windows installation. If it is a software problem you can use this method on the same hardware. But be sure you have the right CD and Product key. With a hardware problem, for example some bad blocks, try to get a copy onto a new HDD and then repair using the install method.

I tried running the DVD without my hard drive attached, and still got that error trying to load setup. For some reason, now when I try again I am able to get into the Vista setup -- and I can't think what I've changed now that made it work. When I try a "repair" from the Vista DVD, it gets through 'scanning', and then 'attempting repair', showing the message:"Your computer was unable to start.

Startup repair is checking for system problems" , and then complains that it cannot complete the repair process: "Microsoft cannot repair this computer automatically. Sending more information can help Microsoft create a solution", and it gives me the option to send a report. There's a lot of technical information shown, which is attached to this post as two photographs.

I detached my Vista hard drive and attached this one, and surprisingly it booted into Windows XP without any problems at all. Also worth mentioning is: I am able to move my Vista hard drive back to the old computer and boot into it fine. The only drivers that came with it are two CD's: one for the motherboard, and the other is for the graphics card.

However, these discs will only run from the operating system -- the BIOS refuses to boot from either of them. Looks like a new motherboard will be in order? Mimsy , Aug 19, Haha looks like I was way off. I figured there was other memory on the board that was shot. Thanks for all the quick replies. I only have two sticks of RAM. I tried booting with each one separately but got the same results. I ran the memtest on each one separately and one passed and one failed.

Any ideas on why I can't boot up with the good stick? Sorry I wanted to bump this. I won't have internet access much longer so I was hoping to get a reply soon.

RMadness66 , Aug 20, If your system has to have matched pairs, and one stick in your matched pair is bad, the good one will be unable to work alone. That also means that your system can't boot on only the good stick. It needs a pair. Since you need to have matched memory, it's generally recommended to replace them both on an RMA. Mimsy , Aug 20, Thanks guys, it's such a help to be able to come here for tech support. Anyway, thanks again.

RMadness66 , Aug 21, Is it the original memory that came with the computer when you bought it? Yes or no, a lot of big memory brands offer limited lifetime warranties on memory these days. You ma be able to get the memory replaced through them, if not through the computer manufacturer.

Post your memory stick info here brand name, all numbers you can find, et cetera , and we might be able to help you verify the warranties. Mimsy , Aug 21, Well, I have bad news, for me at least. Unfortunately, it's still doing exactly the same thing. When I disable the autorestart after error it just gives me a blank blue screen. Any other ideas why I can't boot? Maybe the PSU? As for the old RAM, I cant remember if it's the original or not.

I feel like I might of replaced it for some reason. Anyway, it's Samsung brand. I would look at the PSU next, but also the video card.

Does you have a stand-alone video card that you can take out and replace with another one, just for troubleshooting purposes? The more you can borrow for testing, before you eventually buy more, the better.
